Angel had suggested that I try out tumblr as a means to blog more. After trying it for a couple of days now, I realized that it’s good for more of a “stream of consciousness” than anything really heartfelt. At first, I was thinking of deactivating this account. But I still like it for times when I have more to say than the random series of thoughts that fly out of my head like a bullet train.

So the quick taste of frosting off the top of the cake will be left for tumblr while the full hearty slices will stay here.

So it’s official. I can’t wait to go to New York. This vacation from November 12-17 has been long overdue. It’s been almost a year since we were last there. New York is always a good time. Good eats and good people. Should be fun since we’ll be meeting up with Phil, Rach, and Romuel. It’s going to be Romuel’s first time. I know he’s going to love the city like the rest of us do. Of course we’re going to have to hit up BDC to take classes. Can’t go to New York without training. I will always be a student. I will never stop because my passion won’t allow me to.

On September 23rd, 2009, in the Pacific seas, Typhoon Ketsana formed but was described as weak and a low pressured storm. By September 25th, the storm gained strength and was then declared first as a Tropical Depression then later upgraded to Tropical Storm Ketsana, also known as Ondoy. It’s been reported that Ketsana only had moderate winds but had over 24 hours of extremely heavy and intense rain. Rain that led Manila to the worst flooding in its history. Flood waters measured as high as 20 feet in rural areas. As of September 28th, 248 lives were officially claimed by Ketsana, and are expected to climb with hundreds of thousands more missing. Manila, Philippines, has fell victim to Ketsana. The city has been submerged by 80%. Left in ruins, the residence of 19 million people has now been blanketed by mud, debris, abandoned businesses, sewage, water-borne diseases, currents of pollution throughout the city now pollutes the capital. Lives lost from saving others, people not carrying their belongings but carrying the Virgin Mary statue to reassure their safety, people hanging on to ropes to aid them to safety, strangers saving strangers to save their city, businesses in shambles, roofs are their savior, anything higher of the 20 feet, they fight to keep afloat. The survivors, survived in Manila’s darkest hours because as Filipinos they’ve came together to save what they have left as a people, as a city, as their passion. The thriving city, now thrives for survival and restoration.

I have a soft spot for the USF Bulls football team as they are my alma mater. While still considered by some to be a fledgling program, it has rose up quickly the past several years to show that they are legit and that they have the right to be up in the ranks of the other big Florida teams. However, they seemed to be plagued by the same trend each year where they start off really well and even get up high in the rankings before it all comes crashing down. It doesn’t mean the talent isn’t there. It doesn’t mean that they don’t belong. It does mean though that they still need a lot of work to put in to be consistent. Last night’s game against #8 Cincinnati was supposed to be a tough one. Big games for both sides being that they were both conference games and both undefeated. The first half wasn’t bad at all. We held the Bearcats pretty well by containing Mardy Gilyard and putting the pressure on Heisman candidate, Tony Pike. But we fell apart in the second half with numerous penalties that cost us so much yardage. There was even a couple glimmers of hope that could have drastically changed the tide, but alas we were not up to it.

It’s ok though. I still believe in the team we still have much to play. Although our schedule doesn’t get any easier, we have to really step up and show that we do belong. Tough loss Bulls.

So even though I said I would blog more, I seemed to have failed in that aspect. I really thought I would find more time to pay more attention to this, but alas it seems like the days of blogging may be long over. I even downloaded the WordPress app for BlackBerry, but I ended up deleting it because my BB has been dying for quite some time. Damn memory leaks. I can’t wait to change out my phone. The bigger question is which way will I go? Do I go towards the coveted iPhone? Or do I stick around with T-mo and jump on the new 3G BlackBerry 9700 coming out in a month? T-mo also supposedly has some big announcement coming up which is currently titled as “Project Black”. Tons of rumors flying around with this one. Some say that they are introducing a new $50 all inclusive rate plan. Others speculate that they are bumping up the speed on their already late 3G network. I guess we’ll just have to wait around a couple months to see what turns up. If it turns out to just be all hype I’m jumping ship and jumping to the iPhone.

In other news, the next couple months is quite busy for me personally. Working on various projects and such that all involve dance is very exciting. Stressful, but exciting. Also got a New York trip coming up with the wife and friends. It’s been long overdue and well deserved as it’ll come right at the end of the busy times. Let’s just hope I don’t lose my head before the end.

I have such a love/hate relationship with cars. I think that’s the same for most people except super car enthusiasts. The biggest thing is the money factor. If that wasn’t an issue than hate part of the relationship would not exist. I love and appreciate a whole variety of cars. The cost is the problem. The worst is when you have to pony up for ones that aren’t worth it. My current car situation is a clear example of that.

I hate you Hyundai with a passion.
